A fire broke out at an Oxford store Monday afternoon.
OXFORD, CT — A fire broke out at the Dollar General in Oxford on Monday afternoon, according to a Facebook post from Oxford First Selectman George Temple.
"With the assistance of the Seymour Fire Department, our fire departments handled the problem in short order," the post reads. "It is amazing how focused and disciplined our firefighters are. They were helped with a contingent of Seymour and Southbury Fire Departments while Sandy Hook Fire Dept. manned our firehouses in the absence of our firefighters. The Oxford Police Department and Oxford Ambulance added vital support. Thank you all for a job well done."
The fire began around 2 p.m. and appeared to have completely gutted the store at 126 Oxford Road, according to The Waterbury Republican-American. No injuries were reported from the blaze.
