UPDATE: 2 People Displaced in Oxford House Fire; One Firefighter Released from the Hospital

The fire occurred around 9:30 p.m. Tuesday.

UPDATE, 2 P.M.: A husband and wife were able to make it out of their single-family home safely and about 70 firefighters in total battled the blaze Monday night, the Republican-American reports.

The cause of the fire was deemed accidental and it took firefighters about 40 minutes to extinguish the flames. The injured Oxford firefighter, who was not named, suffered a minor burn on his neck and has been released from the hospital, the Rep-Am reports.

Original post: A chimney fire that moved into a house’s attic broke out at 27 Christian Street in Oxford around 9:30 p.m. Tuesday night, which left one firefighter to suffer minor burns and smoke inhalation, Fox 61 reports.
