Sophomore pitcher Ashley Guillette once again proved she knows how to deliver in the clutch as she struck out 17 and allowed just two hits and one walk in a 4-0 win over Coventry Tuesday in Stratford.
Guillette's performance helped to move the 21-3 Wolverines just one win away from a Class S state title. They will play for that crown at 3 p.m. Saturday at DeLuca Field in Stratford against Terryville.
Sam Orner had two hits and an RBI for Oxford Tuesday. Kaley Kempf and Natalie Peterson also had RBI singles for the Wolverines. All four of Oxford's runs were unearned as the runners who scored them reached on errors.
