Judge Tells Man to Return Grandma's Ashes

Man could be in trouble with the court if he doesn't comply.

A superior court judge has ordered a man who is accused of stealing an urn filled with the ashes of his former friend in Oxford to return them by Wednesday.

A judge at Derby Superior Court told Mark J. Zakrzewski of Southbury on Tuesday that he has until the end of the day on Wednesday to return what he stole or else he could find himself behind bars, according to the Valley Independent Sentinel. The online newspaper reports that Zakrzewski's public defender said he has the urn and will return it to his former friend, Danielle Pace at 425 Chestnut Tree Hill Road.

Zakrewski stole the ashes during a fight at the woman's house on Friday night. He was charged with disorderly conduct, carrying a pistol without a permit and sixth-degree larceny. Read a story about the incident reported by Oxford Patch .
