Man Loses Brakes, Drives Over Lawn at Police HQ
Local man loses control of his car after his brakes fail and drives over the lawn of the Resident State Trooper's Office.

A local man drove over the lawn of the Oxford Resident State Trooper's Office Monday when the brakes on his car failed, according to a police report at the same office at 429 Oxford Road, or Route 67.
Henry Mazako, 45, of Oxford, was traveling southbound toward Seymour and approaching the Route 67 intersection with Governor's Hill Road when he says his brakes failed on wet pavement, the report states. He said he attempted to slow down for a car that was pulling out in front of him onto Route 67 when he lost control; he swerved to the right to avoid hitting anybody, the report states.
That is when he crossed over a lawn, then over two lanes on Governor's Hill Road and then over the lawn of the trooper's office; the incident occurred just before 5 p.m. Nobody was injured; there was damage to the lawn and a flower bed - near the green and gold Oxford sign - at the trooper's office.

Mazako was issued a written warning for driving a car with defective brakes.
Editor's Note (disclosure): I had just left the trooper's office and was parked at the intersection waiting to turn right onto Route 67 when this accident happened. The man swerved to avoid hitting me. I got out of the car to make sure he was OK and troopers came out immediately to check on the man. I'm glad he's OK. - Paul Singley
