Massive Affordable Housing Project Plans Filed In Oxford
A hearing will be held on the project Tuesday night.

OXFORD, CT — Developer Timberlake Investment Partners V was rejected in its efforts to construct an assisted living facility at Oxford Greens but undeterred, filed plans for a 197-unit affordable housing complex for people over the age of 55, the Republican-American reports.
Neighbors vehemently oppose the project and want the developer to stick to the original script, which called for 51 single family homes. The proposal includes six buildings and 320 parking spaces, the Rep-Am reports.
Because the project was filed under the state's affordable housing statute, the town's Planning and Zoning Commission is essentially powerless to deny the project. In affordable housing applications, the town must prove why it shouldn't be built and can only cite legitimate health and safety concerns.
