Naugatuck Hasn't Taken a Position on the Oxford Power Plant
Naugatuck Mayor Bob Mezzo said the issue is a complex one and admits he has concerns.

Naugatuck Mayor Bob Mezzo was asked on social media what were his thoughts on the proposed Oxford Power Plant, and the mayor responded by writing the following:
“Naugatuck is a formal intervenor to the amended application before the Siting Counsel. Our attorneys have been monitoring the process on the Borough’s behalf.
We have not taken a formal position for or against the proposal, but have been monitoring it closely. There has been a lot of information presented by both sides of the debate, some of which is contradictory.

It certainly is a complex issue that generates significant debate. We have not seen any information that will indicate an increased cost to our treatment plant, but are obviously concerned about the impact to water and air quality. Please feel free to contact me by email (bob@bobmezzo.com) or on my cell (203-217-0876) if you wish to discuss.”
