New $3.5 Million Oxford Library Project Receives Support

Residents would still need to approve the project at a fall referendum before it becomes a reality.

Oxford is a step closer to having its own free-standing public library.

Board of Selectmen members expressed verbal support last week concerning the possible construction of a new $3.5 million, 10,000-square-foot municipal library on town owned land across from Great Oak Middle School, the Republican-American reports.

The project still requires Board of Finance approval and then must be approved by residents at a fall referendum. The town would fund the project but some donations could offset the costs, the Rep-Am reports.

The library would have wings for children and adults books, space for after-school programs and classrooms and meeting rooms.
