New Oxford Park and Recreation Director Named

The new director is also an Oxford resident.

OXFORD, CT — Oxford First Selectman George Temple welcomes new Oxford Park and Recreation Director Kyra Nesteriak (of Oxford) while Selectman Kathy Johnson and Selectman Jeff Haney look on.

She replaces Deb Gatto who retired Thursday after 16 years on the job. Nesteriak was appointed on Thursday and will earn $42,818 a year.

"I am grateful for the opportunity and will build upon the wonderful programs we now have in place. I am excited to start my new job,'' Nesteriak told selectmen. (To sign up for Oxford breaking news alerts and more, click here.)

Temple said Nesteriak is "highly qualified,'' for the position and was the chairman of the Playscape Committee that built Lily Park and has also served in many coaching positions in town. (Contributed photo) .
