New Union Contract Means Good News For Oxford Taxpayers: Report

The selectmen recently approved the new contract.

OXFORD, CT — The Board of Selectmen has approved a new union contract for UPSEU Municipal Employee's Union Local 424 — Unit 67, which will run retroactively from July 1, 2017 to June 30, 2020.

Finance Director Jim Hliva informed the selectmen at a special meeting on July 30 that employees will receive a 6 percent salary increase and the insurance premiums will go down $117,000 a year, according to meeting minutes.

"The net savings to the town in the first year is $99.293.26. George Temple, stated that over all that is not a bad deal at all. Jim Hliva stated that it is a great deal, under the old medical insurance plan we were paying $416,000 and now we will be paying $285,000," according to meeting minutes.
