Obituary: Florence B. McGarry

Florence B. McGarry, Silvermine Tavern Baker, dies at the age of 95.

Florence B. McGarry, of Seymour and longtime Norwalk resident, died peacefully at the Griffin Hospital in Derby on Tuesday, December 20, 2011.  

She was the loving wife of the late Thomas P. McGarry. Florence was born in Hazelton, PA on Aug. 12, 1916, the daughter of the late Paul and Ruth Boyle Bankes. She was a former baker at the in Norwalk and loved spending time with her family. She also enjoyed traveling to Las Vegas and Mohegan Sun.

Survivors include two daughters, Nancy Tirella and her husband Ralph of Oxford and Linda Bell of Norwalk, six grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, one great-great grandson and a sister-in-law, Jane Gawricki as well as several nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 AM, on Thursday, Dec. 22, at , 1 Fr. Conlon Pl., Norwalk, with burial to follow at , Norwalk. Florence’s family will receive friends at the , 12 Mott Ave on Thursday from 9 - 10 AM.
