Obituary: Frank J. Ciancio, 70, of Oxford

He was an avid golfer, past member of the Heritage Village Country Club and currently a member of Oxford Greens.

Oxford – Frank J. Ciancio, 70, formerly of New Fairfield, died Tuesday, May 9th at Regional Hospice in Danbury. He was the husband of Kathleen (Smith) Ciancio. Frank was born in New Rochelle, NY, son of the late Vincent and Concetta Ciancio and was raised by his mother, Duilia Ciancio. He received his master’s degree from Morris Harvey College in Charleston, West Virginia.

For more than 38 years he worked in Ridgefield public schools, coaching football and the boys golf teams, and retiring as a guidance counselor. He was an avid golfer, past member of the Heritage Village Country Club and currently a member of Oxford Greens.

He adored and cherished spending time with his four loving grandchildren. He leaves his devoted wife of 47 years, Kathleen, and three loving children: Connie Merritt and her husband, Ed, of New Fairfield, and their children Jake and Amanda; Matt Ciancio of June Lake, CA; and Brian Ciancio and his wife, Kate, of Southbury and their children, Allison and Sara; his brother, Tony Ciancio and his wife, Mary, of Shelton; and his sister, Roseann Ciancio of Rye Brook, NY.

He was pre-deceased by his brother, Joseph Ciancio. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, May 13 at 10:00 a.m. in Sacred Heart Church, 910 Main Street South, Southbury. Calling hours: Friday, May 12th from 5 to 8 p.m. in the chapel of Sacred Heart Church. Burial is private. Arrangements by Carpino Funeral Home, Southbury.
