Jochen “Joe” K. Eckner, age 62, entered into rest at his home in Oxford on Monday, January 17, 2022. He is the beloved husband of Barbara A. (Bischoff) Eckner. He is the beloved father of Kurt Eckner and Kerstin M. Eckner and her husband Brian H. O’Donnell, Jr.
Joe was born in Duisburg, Germany on March 28, 1959, son of Karin Vogel Jurkowitsch and stepson of the late Armin Jurkowitsch, and came to the US when he was 10 years old.
He was a tool and die maker by trade and worked in the printing industry. He later worked for Yale Pest Control. Joe enjoyed motorcycles and raced them in his younger days. He was also an avid skier, and he enjoyed working on cars, boats, and trucks. He also loved drinking a good German beer with his friends and family.
Joe was a member of the Harugari German American Club in West Haven, the Donau Austrian Club in New Britain, and the Order of the Sons of Hermann.
Friends may greet the family at the Riverview Funeral Home, 390 River Road, Shelton, on Friday, January 21st, from 4 to 7 PM. His funeral service will begin at 7 PM at the funeral home.
