Obituary: John Robert Macfarlane, 82, of Oxford
He has been an Oxford resident for the past 52 years, prior to that he resided in Bridgeport.

John Robert Macfarlane, age 82, of Oxford, beloved husband of 59 years to Maureen ( Murphy) Macfarlane, entered into rest peacefully on Sunday July 9, 2017 at St. Mary's Hospital, Waterbury. He was born in Montreal, Canada on September 24, 1934, son of the late William and Gladys (Sherrington) Macfarlane. John worked as a Supervisor for Lord Manufacturing of Shelton , prior to his retirement.
He has been an Oxford resident for the past 52 years, prior to that he resided in Bridgeport. John was an avid stamp collector, he loved bird and animal watching, but most of all he loved being with his family and friends. He will be sadly missed by all and will remain forever in our hearts.

In addition to his beloved wife Maureen, his loving family includes his son William Macfarlane of Oxford, two daughters Sherry Lake of Waterbury and Kimberly Macfarlane of Rancocas, NJ., five grandchildren Michael, Amanda , Christopher, Sarah and Matthew, two great-grandsons Tyler and Nathan, an uncle Robert Sherrington of Canada, several nieces and nephews and numerous cousins in New York and Canada.
Inurnment was held privately by the family in the Circle Niche at Mountain Meadows Cemetery, Seymour, with Reverend David Abbott, Pastor of Seymour Evangelical Baptist Church, officiating. There were no calling hours.
