Oxford 11-Year-Olds to Represent Connecticut in New England Baseball Tourney

Team is holding a fundraiser tonight to help send the kids to the tournament.

The Oxford 11-year-old Cal Ripken all-star team has won the Connecticut baseball tournament and is headed to the regional tournament starting Friday.

The team secured a trip to the New England regional in Massachusetts by defeating New Fairfield 3-2 in the 11-60 division (11-year-olds, 60-foot base paths) on Friday. (Read a game recap here on the website of the Danbury News Times.)

The team is asking the community to help defray costs to the tournament, which begins Saturday. All told, the tournament will cost about $6,000.
