OXFORD, CT —Oxford First Selectman George Temple issued the following statement on Facebook following a school shooting in Texas:

"Oxford P.D. has been paying close attention to our schools. We have an armed security officer in each school. We have been following school buses and have apprehended motorists who have illegally passed school buses.

"The new middle school was constructed with security in mind. It is located in a position where we can have 2 additional armed security guards within a matter of seconds. We have an all terrain vehicle (govt surplus) for speedy deployment of armed security guards. All of our security guards are veteran law enforcement personnel with years of experience in other departments. We have a state of the art video center in each school.
