Oxford Approves Funds for Land Acquisition

Town officials also update plans to add additional ball fields in town.

The Oxford Board of Selectmen voted 2-1 to approve spending $45,000 to purchase a 3-acre parcel near Agnes Tetlak Sclavi Park, which officials believe will be perfect for a picnic spot, the Republican-American reports.

Selectman David McKane felt the price was too high for the land, which is adjacent to the 97-acres the town previously acquired. Temple said he felt the price was fair.

First Selectman George R. Temple says the town next year plans to add two softball and a multi-purpose fields and he has bigger plans long-term, the Rep-Am reports.
