Oxford Baseball Slips in SWC Play

The Wolverines have a winning record, still, but have fallen in the past two games.

 

After starting off the season red shot, the Oxford High School baseball team has hit a bit of cold streak. The team has lost its last two games of the season, bringing its record to 4-2 overall, 0-2 in the Southwest Conference.

On Monday, the Wolverines lost 5-2 to Bunnell High School of Stratford. The Bunnell Bulldogs broke open a tie game with three runs in the bottom of the sixth inning, and then shut down Oxford in the top of the seventh to hold on for the victory.

James Michaud had three hits, while Dale Keller had two hits and an RBI for Oxford.  

For Bunnell, Tim White had a triple, a single and scored three runs. Cam Belliveau had two hits and an RBI, while Ron Rossomando pitched a complete game and struck out out 14 Oxford batters.

On Saturday, Oxford lost to Masuk of Monroe, 8-4 at home in its SWC opener.

The Oxford Wolverines were once again led at the plate by Michaud, who had an RBI single, and Keller, who ripped a double.

Oxford's next game is at home Thursday at 4 p.m. against New Milford.
