Oxford Board Of Education Reduces Schools Budget Request

The schools chief had requested a larger increase.

OXFORD, CT — The Board of Education voted to reduce Superintendent of Schools Ana Ortiz's budget request for fiscal 2018-19 from a $1.59 million or 5.4 percent increase to a 4.5 percent spending increase, the Republican-American reports.

The vote was 5 to 2 to reduce Ortiz's spending proposal, which included new positions including a math coach at Quaker Farms and Oxford Center schools, a dean of students for the high school and new district IT director, the Rep-Am reports.

But members felt the increase was too much to ask for. Read the full Rep-Am story here.
