Oxford Business Owner Arrested, Held On Bond: Report

He's being held in lieu of a $270,000 bond.

OXFORD, CT — The future of Werner Janer's Oxford-based business, the Naugamatic Watch Co. on Oxford Road is in question after Janer has been arrested for outstanding money laundering offenses in California, the Republican-American reports.

Janer, 56, is wanted in California on bank fraud, grand theft, identity theft, money laundering, and other offenses, the Rep-Am reports. He is being held in lieu of a $270,000 bond and is expected to be extradited to California.

Very little details have been released concerning the specifics of the California case against Janer but a Superior Court Judge this week said its “either a false mortgage, false financing or false equity scheme," the Rep-Am reports. Janer's criminal record dates back to the 90s.
