Oxford Capital Plan Includes Major Funds For School Security

Town officials say they are committed to upgrading safety at the district's schools.

OXFORD, CT — The town's capital plan includes significant funds for several school security projects at each school, according to the Republican-American.

More than $1 million in funds are being proposed to be spent on electronic locks, cameras, intercom systems, and a voice evacuation system. The projects would still need to be individually bonded by the various town boards.

Officials also say a major project for the next school year is $2 million for upgrades to the HVAC system at Great Oaks Middle School and $1.1 million for HVAC upgrades at Quaker Farms, the Rep-Am reports.
