Oxford To Consider Changing How Residents Are Charged For Sewers

OXFORD, CT — Oxford residents who use the town’s sewer system could soon see changes to how their bills are calculated, officials say.

The Water Pollution Control Authority will hold a public hearing Wednesday, Aug. 26, on proposed changes to its regulations and sewer user fees. The hearing begins at 6:45 p.m. at Oxford Town Hall, 486 Oxford Road.

At its July 29 meeting, the authority discussed a new fee structure before voting unanimously to schedule the hearing. Meeting records do not specify the proposed rates or explain how the new structure would differ from the current system.

The authority’s regular meeting will follow at 7 p.m.

Oxford’s WPCA oversees about 28 miles of sewer lines, four town pump stations and a meter station. Sewage collected in Oxford is sent to treatment systems in Naugatuck and Seymour under agreements with those municipalities.

The hearing agenda is available through the town’s Agenda Center.
