Oxford Cross Country Teams Compete at Home for First Time
The teams thank people who helped make the home course a reality.
The Oxford High School boys' cross country team defeated New Milford and Kolbe Cathedral but lost to Joel Barlow Wednesday during the first home meet in school history. The scores and results were as follows: Joel Barlow 25 Oxford 32; New Milford 17 Oxford 46, Oxford 15 Kolbe Cathedral 50.
Cameron Swift came in 5th with a time of 18:13, Brandon Au 11th 19:04, Zach Frew 12th 19:16, Richard Katrenya 26th 20:41, Chris Gee 31st 21:24, Sean Coffindaffer 32nd 21:28, Zack Latka 35th 22:12, Robert Lee 41st 23:22, Greg Herold 43rd 24:04, Joe Venturini 44th 24:13, Tyler Sharron 54th 28:26.

The boys' team is now 3-2 on the season.
The girls' cross country team lost to Barlow and New Milford, but beat Kolbe Cathedral on Wednesday. The scores were as follows: New Milford 20 Oxford 43; Joel Barlow 20 Oxford 41; Oxford 15 Kolbe Cathedral 48.

Olivia Richter ran 20:33 to finish first. Richter set a course record. Savada Robinson came in 16th, 24:41, Rebecca Buswell 22nd 25:30, Lindsey Koski 29th 26:52, Becky Gumbrewicz 33rd, 27:34, Elsie Aubry 53rd 29:43, Hannah VanBuiten 55th 30:11, Sarah Woolfrey 56th 30:37, Anne Dennen 61st 30:56, Michaela Ryan 62nd 31:25, Maggie Palys 64th 32:40, Emily Bockish 66th 33:37, Sam Orner 67th 34:31.
The girls' team is now 4-2 on the season.
The boys' and girls' cross country teams would like to thank the following people for donating their time, equipment, and supplies in order for them to run on their home course at Oxford High School for the very first time: Tom Adamski, Tom and Linda Burdis, Bob Buswell, Sean Coffindaffer, Richard Katrenya, Lindsey Koski, Kevin and Pam Koski, Ed Lucas, Oxford Public Works, Bill Richter, Olivia Richter, Charlie Rizzio, Masha Shaposhnikova, Charlie Stochmal, Joe Stochmal and George Temple.
The team next meet is Saturday at the Stratton Brook Invitational in Simsbury at 9 am. On Tuesday September 25th the cross-country teams will again be home for a meet against Masuk, New Fairfield and Weston. It will be the 1st ever senior night for Oxford High XC seniors. The meet starts at 4:30 p.m.
