Oxford Democrats Find a Familiar Face to Run For First Selectman
Republican Incumbent George Temple will now face a challenger in the upcoming municipal election.

The Oxford Democratic Town Committee has endorsed a familiar face for the position of first selectman.
Democrats endorsed Kathy Johnson, 68, who served as first selectman from 2001-2003 to run against incumbent GOP First Selectman George R. Temple, reports Paul Singley, of the Republican-American.
Johnson didn’t seek reelection as she spent time caring for her husband who was ill. Her running mate is Peter Bunzl, who is a retired law enforcement official.

Johnson told Singley that now that she is retired, she is energized to get back into politics.
Johnson and Bunzl oppose the proposed Oxford Power Plant, while Temple has been a supporter of the project. Bunzl is a former treasurer and Chairman of the Oxford Democratic Town Committee. He also served on the Oxford Planning and Zoning Commission as an alternate for two years.
