Oxford Finance Board Concerned About Police Overtime Budget: Report

The overtime budget is hundreds of thousands of dollars higher than what was budgeted this year.

OXFORD, CT — The Police Department's overtime account exceeded its projected budget by $600,000 this year because two police officers have been out on workers compensation, the Republican-American reports.

Some Board of Finance members were unhappy to learn about the overspending of the overtime account stating that they shouldn't be hearing about it now for the first time.

Members of the finance board are eying a $200,000 reduction in the Police Department's budget request for next year and it's unclear currently what might be cut if that occurs.
