Oxford Finance Board Tables Vote On Whether to Repair Senior Center Floor

The Finance Board wants to wait until the bids for the repairs are opened.

We’ll have to wait a little while longer to know if the Board of Finance will approve up to $21,000 to repair the buckling main floor at the Senior Center.

Town officials told Oxford Patch that the Board of Finance tabled a vote Monday night on whether to appropriate the funds until the bids are opened.

The Board of Selectmen voted earlier this month to spend no more than $21,000 to repair the main floor at the Senior Center, according to recent meeting minutes.

The original floor is buckling and needs to be stripped and then about 2,800-square-feet of tile needs to go down.

The selectmen expressed confidence that tile and not carpeting is the best fix for the floor.

The selectmen will go out to bid and secure at least three quotes for the tile work, which is required by town charter.
