Oxford Firefighters Help Battle Southbury Blaze

Fire started in the pool heater while the owners were on vacation; no injuries reported.

Oxford firefighters helped put out a fire in Southbury Monday night that caused more than $100,000 worth of damage to a home on Sunset Ridge Road in Southbury, Southbury Fire Marshal Henry Stormer told Southbury Patch.

The family was on vacation when the fire broke out at their home at 126 Sunset Ridge Road Shortly after 8 p.m., Stormer said. He said fire units from Southbury and Oxford extinguished the fire.

The fire investigation is centering on an oil fired furnace, pool water heater, within a pool house, he said, estimating damages in excess of $100,000 to the pool house, pool and residence.
