Oxford First Selectman Says State Made It Clear 'Oxford Kids Don't Matter': Report

The state's fiscal woes are having a major impact on towns such as Oxford.

OXFORD, CT — Oxford First Selectman George R. Temple told the Republican-American that the state's fiscal disaster has forced the town to put a freeze on capital projects and he added that the state's current administration "has made it clear that Oxford kids do not matter and we will fend for ourselves."

Temple also offered his comments on the state's financial problems, what's the root cause and what Oxford deserves. Many states such as Oxford are seeing a decrease in state aid for education because the state is without a budget and Gov. Dannel P. Malloy is running the state via executive order and has proposed more than $550 million in cuts to education, especially suburban communities such as Oxford.
