Oxford Hires New Schools Superintendent: Report
The school board announced the hiring this week.

OXFORD, CT — Oxford's new schools superintendent will be New Fairfield's assistant superintendent Jason McKinnon, the Republican-American reports. He will begin his new job sometime this summer.
He will receive a salary of $205,000 and will replace Ana Ortiz, who is retiring after five years of leading the school system. McKinnon was a special education teacher in Southport and later taught students in Westport. He earned a promotion to assistant principal in Norwalk and later as a principal and then assistant superintendent in Ridgefield.
According to his bio on the New Fairfield Public Schools website, "Dr. Jason McKinnon serves as the Assistant Superintendent for the District. Previously, Dr. McKinnon was a classroom teacher, serving in many capacities. He also served as an Elementary Principal for 10 years in Ridgefield, CT. Dr. McKinnon earned his Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Australia.

He also completed his Doctorate in the area of Educational Leadership at Western Connecticut State University. More recently, Dr. McKinnon completed an Advanced Certificate Program at Central Connecticut State University for Superintendent of Schools. Dr. McKinnon is a passionate leader who loves working with students, teachers, parents, and colleagues to improve teaching and learning in the District."
