Oxford Historical Society To Host Vintage Farm Equipment Show

A variety of old-time farm equipment will be featured at the annual Tractor meet, Admission for the family-friendly event is free. Visitors will be invited to try their hands at working a vintage corn sheller. Also on view will be a "Brown Bess" musket originating in Oxford and dating from the Revolutionary War period.

Visitors will also have a first look at plans for a barn for the back of the Towner Lane campus. This will house the ever-growing collection of agricultural equipment in the museum's collection. An architectural drawing, a site plan and a model of the proposed Oxford History Center will be shown along with photos and examples of artifacts that the Oxford Historical Society plans to showcase at this facility.

A bake sale and cider will be on offer in the 1850 Munn Schoolhouse. 1755 Homestead museum will be open for tours with a special display of antique tools from the area. Woodworking implements, a scale, ice tongs, a horse hobble and much more gleaned from area farms as they went out of business will be on view.

The event will be held from noon to 4 p.m. on Sunday, October 11, on the grounds of the Twitchell-Rowland Homestead Museum. The museum is located at 60 Towner Lane, off Route 67.
A rain date is set for Sunday, October 18.
