Oxford Holds Off on Approving Additional Funds for Snow Removal

Town officials are still figuring out how much has been spent.

Update: The Board of Selectmen decided against approving additional funds for snow removal because it didn’t have complete numbers from Public Works, reports Jordan Otero, of the Republican-American. A transfer of funds could still come at a future meeting, once the bill has been tabulated.

Original post: Oxford is joining the ever-growing list of communities whose snow removal budget has been tapped out.

According to a Board of Selectmen meeting agenda, the town is requesting an emergency appropriation to deal with the seemingly never ending snowstorms. A special town meeting may be necessary.

First Selectman George Temple told the Republican-American that he thinks the town has done so well with the budget thus far is because it pre-treats all 122 miles of town road.
