Oxford Hopes to Save on Senior Center Snow Removal

Officials also vow that the center will be clear of snow for members by 8 a.m.

Oxford officials think they has the best of both worlds when it comes to snow removal at the Oxford Senior Center.

The town has contracted Water Pollution Control Authority maintenance supervisor Scott Halstead to perform snow removal at the Senior Center, and it must be cleared by 8 a.m., according to Board of Selectmen meeting minutes.

He will be allowed to perform snow removal even if it conflicts with his WPCA schedule to ensure the safety of the senior center occupants.

This may save the town significantly because last winter three people were charged with performing the snow removal costing $40 an hour plus $85 each time the snowblower was used, minutes state.

Halstead will earn overtime if he works before his regularly scheduled shift.
