Man's criminal record precludes him from owning or possessing a firearm.

An Oxford man has been charged by state police with trying to buy a gun even though he has a criminal record that precludes him from owning a firearm, state police said in a news release.
Earl Marks, 62, of 84 Seth Den Road, was charged with making a false statement and criminal attempt to posses a firearm, police said.
He was released on a $2,500 bond and is scheduled to be arraigned at Derby Superior Court on Monday.
