Oxford Man Fires Gun to Stop Dog Fight

Man charged with reckless endangerment, unlawful discharge of a firearm and other crimes.

An Oxford man fired a hand gun into the air to break up a fight between his dog and another K-9 on Monday afternoon, police stated in a news release.

Vincent Provenzano’s dog left his property and entered a roadway where another dog was being walked by its owners, the release states.

He took out his gun and discharged it into the air three times in an apparent attempt to get the dogs to stop fighting, according to the release.

Nobody was injured; it was not clear from the news release whether the dogs were harmed during the fight.

Provenzano, 55, of 9 Michael Circle, Oxford, was taken into custody without incident. He was charged with unlawful discharge of a firearm, first-degree reckless endangerment, breach of peace and allowing a dog to roam.

He was released on a $1,500 bond and is scheduled to be arraigned at Derby Superior Court on May 16.
