Oxford Man Safe After Police Intervene Following Threat
Man who threatened to harm himself sent for psychiatric evaluation.

A 55-year-old Oxford man is safe and getting help after the Oxford Resident Trooper’s Office and Shelton Police intervened when he threatened to harm himself Tuesday, police said.
Local troopers received a call from the Shelton Police Department after the man’s co-workers in Shelton became concerned because the man threatened to hurt himself, Oxford Resident Trooper Sgt. Dan Semosky said. The man said he was going to his home in Oxford, co-workers told police.
Resident Trooper First Class Dave Hare searched town and located a car that matched a description of the man’s vehicle at the at 1 Oxford Road on the Oxford/Seymour line. Hare discovered it was the same man and calmly talked to him, Semosky said. Hare convinced the man to get help. The man was sent for a psychiatric evaluation at Griffin Hospital in Derby.

Police did not release the man’s name to protect his identity.
