Oxford Man Steals 55-Inch TV from Walmart, Gets Greeted by Awaiting Officers Outside Store: West Haven Police

Police said the vehicle the suspect was operating was also reported stolen.

WEST HAVEN, CT — An Oxford man attempting to steal a 55-inch TV from Walmart was greeted by awaiting officers outside the store, according to West Haven Police.

West Haven Police responded to the Walmart on Sawmill Road at about 8:20 p.m. on Nov. 9 after store security reported that a man was attempting to steal a 55-inch TV.

The man parked his vehicle next to a secluded emergency exit, which prompted security to call police.

Arriving officers also noted that the vehicle the suspect was operating was reported stolen.

“Police positioned and as the male exited through the emergency exit with the TV, police were there to say hello,” West Haven Police said in a post on Facebook.

Leonard Tomasheski, 28, of Oakcrest Road in Oxford, was arrested on charges of second-degree larceny and sixth-degree larceny. He was held on bond.

Police also said that Tomasheski may be suspected in similar incidents.
