Oxford Election 2017 Results: Vote Totals For All Races

The town voted on several local positions on Nov. 7. Here are the full vote totals for all races.

OXFORD, CT – Incumbent Republican First Selectman George Temple easily won re-election to a fourth-term on Tuesday night. Temple won 2,389 votes, getting 66 percent of the vote. His two opponents split the rest of the vote evenly – Democrat Scott Flaherty got 664 votes; Petitioning candidate Kathy Johnson got 557 votes.

The races for town clerk and town treasurer were unopposed. Margaret West garnered more than 3,000 votes and won the town clerk spot; Michael Angelini grabbed nearly as many votes and won the town treasurer post.

Republican Jeffrey Haney got 2,797 votes in his run for a seat on the Board of Selectmen. Republicans in Oxford received the top vote goals in every race including Board of Finance, Education, Planning and Zoning and Zoning Board of Appeals.

For the Board of Finance, the three top vote getters were Republicans Paula Jensen with 2,605, Jeffrey Grant with 2,454 and Jack Kiley with 2,384. Democrat John Powers got 1,203.

For the Board of Education, the top vote getters were again Republicans Shelley J. Lacey-Castelot with 2,571, Stephen Kozek with 2,559, Melisssa Cole with 2,547, Victor Tomporowski with 2,385, William Miller with 2,351. The lone Democrat, Christin Kimball, got 1,375 votes.

Republican Martin Wing won unopposed for the Board of Assessment Appeals and did Tanya Carver in her run to fill a vacancy on the Planning and Zoning Commission.

For the full term positions on the Planning and Zoning board, Republican Arnold Jensen was top vote getter with 2,289, followed by fellow Republicans Jeffrey Luff with 2,432, Patrick Cocchiarella with 2,429, Daniel Wall with 2,428. Democrat Peter Zbras got 1,299.

For the Zoning Board of Appeals, Republican Brett Olbrys with 2,493 votes led the way, followed by fellow Republican Larry Ellis who got 2,240. Democrat Betti Hellman got 1,161.
