Oxford Parks & Recreation Announces Spring Trips

Several trips are planned. See below for more details.

From Oxford Parks & Recreation: Ascend to the top of the tallest building in the Western Hemisphere in less than 60 seconds at One World Observatory. Take in the iconic sights, surrounding waters and panoramic views of the skyline and beyond. Explore three levels filled with innovation and inspiration.

The experience includes: Sky Pod Elevator, Main Observatory, Sky Portal, and See Forever Theater.

The National 9/11 Memorial's Museum is the country's principal institution concerned with exploring the implications of the events of 9/11, documenting the impact of those events and exploring 9/11's continuing significance. Multimedia displays, artifacts and narratives commemorate the lives of each & every victim of both the 2001 and 1993 attacks.

The Memorial's twin reflecting pools sit within the footprints where the Twin Towers once stood. The names of every person who died in the terrorist attacks are inscribed in bronze around the pools. Lunch on your own at Brookfield Place, a brand new upscale food court in the heart of Lower Manhattan.

Saturday, May 18th – Intrepid Sea, Air and Space Museum (NYC)

Explore the 900 foot USS Intrepid. This aircraft carrier fought in WWII, served in the Cold War and the Vietnam War. Visit the Space Shuttle Pavilion and see the Space Shuttle Enterprise. Climb aboard the Submarine Growler, the only American guided missile submarine open to the public.
Lunch on you own at Chelsea Market after the Intrepid tour.

Cost: $87 per adult, $82 per child (6-12 years old)

Sunday, June 9th – Hornblower Jazz Cruise (NYC)
Come aboard one of these beautiful vessels and experience dynamic views and countless sites of New York Harbor. You will even get up close and personal with lovely Lady Liberty! During our two-hour cruise, we enjoy a fabulous Sunday Buffet Brunch with Jazz entertainment followed by DJ for dancing. Following our cruise, we'll enjoy some free time at Rockefeller Center.

Cost: $115 per person
Depart: 9:30 am Oxford Town Hall (rear parking lot)
Return: 7:30 pm

Saturday, June 15th – Block Island
Take a break and spend the day on beautiful Block Island! Just 7 miles long and three miles wide, this idyllic island is a great escape for anyone. Catch a ride on the ferry for a delightful hour cruise from Point Judith, RI to Old Harbor, Block Island. Old Harbor is designated a National Historic District with wonderful Victorian buildings. Walk only a short distance from the ferry to the National Hotel that overlooks the Atlantic Ocean.

Upon arrival we will board our private island bus for a guided tour of this special island. Enjoy a full course lunch at the famous historic National Hotel right on Main Street, just a short walk from the Ferry. After lunch enjoy your free time to relax or shop before boarding the ferry back to the
mainland.
