Oxford Power Plant Clears Another Hurdle

The FAA says smokestacks at the site would not be a safety hazard.

It’s another win for Competitive Power Ventures and their quest to construct a proposed 785-megawatt (MW) nameplate capacity CPV Towantic Energy Center in Oxford.

The Federal Aviation Agency said 2, 150-foot smokestacks at the site would not pose a safety hazard to pilots at the nearby Oxford Airport, the Republican-American reports.

Opponents to the plant are not pleased by the report questioning whether the FAA took into consideration the heated effluent that will be emanating from those stacks, the Rep-Am reports. An appeal is possible.
