Oxford Residents Facing a Sizable Tax Hike: Report

This year residents were able to avoid a tax hike, but no such luck next year.

OXFORD, CT — As it stands right now, taxes would increase by 9.3 percent in Oxford next year despite the fact that the budget is only scheduled to increase by 0.38 percent, the Republican-American reports.

Last year residents taxes did not increase but that was because $6.1 million was used from the fund balance to ensure against a tax hike, but those surplus dollars aren't available this year, officials told the Rep-Am.

For example, a home assessed at $200,000 would lead to an additional $432 in taxes for the homeowner.
