Oxford Says No To Seymour's Request
The town of Seymour was looking to utilize Jackson Cove for a summer program and Oxford officials denied the request.
OXFORD, CT — Oxford's Parks and Recreation Commission denied a request from the town of Seymour for the use of Jackson Cove this summer. Local officials say Seymour Parks and Recreation requested use of Jackson Cove one day a week from June 17-August 2 for their summer camp.
They proposed bringing 30-35 campers in grades six and eight. The Commission discussed the matter and decided against allowing the request, according to meeting minutes. They noted that Jackson Cove is for Oxford residents and they had concerns that this would then set a precedent for other towns to be allowed to request usage of the park.
