Oxford School Officials Urge Children to Get Vaccinated

Top Oxford school officials are urging parents to get their children vaccinated.

In a letter sent to parents, Superintendent of Schools Ana V. Ortiz writes, “the ongoing measles outbreak related to Disneyland along with two cases of shingles reported in the district has highlighted the concern for parents regarding vaccinating their children against vaccine-preventable childhood illnesses.”

Ortiz writes, “immunization verification is mandatory for all new school entrants and must include complete documentation...”

She adds that students who fail to meet the requirements may be excluded from school. Children with medial or religious exemptions are allowed to attend school except in the case of an outbreak of vaccine-prevetable diseases.
