Oxford Schools Budget Proposal Includes a Spending Increase: Report

OXFORD, CT — Superintendent of Schools Ana V. Ortiz is seeking a 4.2 percent spending hike next year as part of a $30 million budget for fiscal 2017-18, the Republican-American reports.

Officials said they anticipate the budget request to be reduced before its sent to voters.

Some of the high points as reported by the Rep-Am include:

enrollment is declining by another 80 students next year.

the budget increase is needed due to salary increases for staff, and increases in the utilities, insurance and transportation accounts.

the budget includes three new positions requests including a districtwide system technician costing $95,328.
