Oxford/Seymour Food Banks Receive Grants From Archdiocese Of Hartford

OXFORD/SOUTHBURY, CT — At the direction of Archbishop Christopher J. Coyne, the Archbishop’s Annual Appeal has issued three emergency grants totaling $75,000 to food banks serving areas impacted by Sunday’s flooding.

$25,000 each has been granted to the Seymour – Oxford Food Bank, Southbury Food Bank, and Ecumenical Food Bank in Naugatuck.

Robert Farnum, treasurer of the Seymour – Oxford Food Bank, said, "The Board of Directors and I are astounded by the speed at which you acted and by your generosity. This will ensure that we are able to meet the needs of our two communities."

"As Catholics, we are called to shine the light of Christ’s love on those in need of it, and the Archbishop’s Annual Appeal today is doing just that by committing $75,000 to food banks in towns that were ravaged by historic flooding on Sunday," Archbishop Coyne said. "I am so pleased to direct these emergency funds, made possible through the generosity of our donors, and in doing so recommitting ourselves as a beacon of service to our brothers and sisters."
