Oxford Spent Almost $40,000 on Police Overtime Costs
The town decided to hire a full time officer to keep overtime costs down.

Oxford had $39,587 worth of reasons to hire a new police officer.
Last month, the Police Department hired Matthew Cosmos, of Middlebury to be its newest police officer.
Cosmos, who spent the previous two years working for the Farmington Police Department, will earn a salary of $21.76 per hour. He started August 13.

According to Finance Board meeting minutes, the town had to transfer $39,587 to cover overtime costs associated with the Police Department. The department had vacancies, which necessitated spending money on overtime, and the need to hire an additional officer.
