Oxford Spring Teams Impressive

Girls track, boys' volleyball undefeated; softball, baseball looking strong.

The Oxford Girls Track and Field team remains undefeated, 8-0, after defeating Brookfield and Bethel, 78-72 and 78.5-71.5, respectively, on Tuesday.

Brianna Hoffner won the 1600 and 3200 meter runs in a time of 6:05 and 12:58

Kristen Au won the 800 meter run in a time of 2:38

Taylor Drayton won the Shot Put in a throw of 35 feet, the discus in a throw of 113-7, and Javelin in a throw of 105-6.

Savada Robinson won the 100 meter High Hurdles in a time of 17.8 and won the 200 meters in a school record of 26.9.

The 4x800 meter relay team of Krsiten Barbaris, Kristen Au, Jasmine Leung and Elizabeth Rascko won in a time of 10:53

Hannah VanBuiten was 2nd in the 100 meter dash in a time of 13.7

Sara Ponce was 2nd in the 1600 meters with a time of 6:16

Jasmine Leung was 2nd in the 800 meters with a time of 2:40

Savada Robinson was 2nd in the 300 Intermediate Hurdles in a time of 51 seconds.

Elizabeth Rascko was 2nd in the 3200 meters with a time of 13:13

Audrey Pratt was 2nd in the Shot Put with a throw of 26-8.

Kristen Barbaris was 3nd in the 800 meters with a time of 2:40

Jasmine Dipetro was 3rd in the 100 meter dash in a time of 13.7

Anastasia Martinez was 3rd in the Shot Put with a thow of 25-3

Anne Dennen was 3rd in the High Jump with a jump of 4-8

Audrey Pratt was 3rd in the Triple Jump with a jump of 30-2

Hannah VanBuiten was 3rd 400 meters with a time of 64.9

The girls’ next meet is May 4-5 at the Irv Black Invitational in New Britain and on May 7 at Weston with New Milford and Newtown.

The Oxford High School boys' volleyball team continues its domination this season as the only team in Class M to remain undefeated. The team is 10-0, 30-0 in sets. The team faces a challenge tonight when it plays Cheshire at 5 p.m. at Oxford High School. Oxford ended Cheshire's 47-game winning streak on the road earlier this year.

The Oxford High School softball team is 9-2 on the season behind the strong pitching arm of sophomore Ashley Guillette. Last week, she pitched a no hitter and a one hitter.

In the Wolverines last game on Saturday, Guillette struck out 13 in a 4-0 win over New Milford.

Megan Sastrum hit a home run and Sam Orner had a two-run double, while Allyson Sweeney and Katelyn Wentz had two hits apiece.

Guillette was named the Republican-American player of the week.

The OHS baseball team is 9-2, 5-2 in the South-West Conference and has won its last five games.

Oxford’s last win came over Notre-Dame of Fairfield when the Wolverines scored 16 runs and allowed just four. Sophomore Neil Ring (2-0) got the win on the mound, while Steve Mahoney got the save, his second on the year.

Dale Keller had three hits and four RBIs, while Kevin Loschiavo had two hits and scored two runs. Kyle Chudoba had a three-run double and J.P. DeFrancesco had a two-run double.
