Oxford Teacher's Contract Not Renewed Over Bullying Allegations

The Board of Education backed the schools superintendent's decision not to renew the embattled teacher's contract.

OXFORD, CT — Christopher D. Cevetillo, a Great Oak Middle School health teacher, will not be returning to his job next year after the Board of Education denied the teacher's appeal over allegations he bullied a student about his weight, the Republican-American reports.

During the hearing, a union official noted that his client received good reviews, the children liked him, and he has received contract renewals previously. The teacher had been disciplined for allegedly bullying the eighth grader about his weight and another complaint had previously been filed against Cevetillo, the Rep-Am reports.
