Oxford Teen to Star in the Nutcracker

Jessie Peck, 15, of Oxford, will perform as Clara in the Nutcracker with the New England Ballet Company on December 20, 2014.

Jessie Peck, lifelong Oxford resident, will be performing as Clara in the Nutcracker with the New England Ballet Company this Saturday, December 20, at 2:00 pm at the Klein Auditorium in Bridgeport. Jessie, 15, began dancing at 2 years old, and joined the New England Ballet Company when she was 10. This year, Jessie was promoted to a soloist in the company, and is enjoying dancing her first principal role in this year’s Nutcracker performance. She has danced in the Nutcracker for 11 years, and has danced numerous roles including mouse, angel, soldier, rat, Fritz friend, Clara friend, Chinese soloist, Arabian soloist, Spanish señorita, Flower soloist, Snowflake, and Reed Flute soloist.

Jessie is a sophomore at Oxford High School, where she is an honor student. She is active in the youth group at Christ Church Quaker Farms, and she volunteers to help teach the younger children during Sunday School and during Vacation Bible School each summer.

The New England Ballet Company is celebrating it’s 23rd Nutcracker season this year. They began performing the Nutcracker in November, and have been performing at a variety of venues over the past 5 weeks. This weekend, the NEBC will be performing the final Nutcracker shows of 2014 onDecember 20 and 21 at the Klein Auditorium in Bridgeport.
