Oxford Residents Face Benefit Deadline

OXFORD, CT — Oxford residents seeking certain veterans benefits or a renters rebate have until Sept. 30 to submit their applications.

The town assessor’s office recently posted a reminder outlining several approaching deadlines.

Applications for the additional veterans exemption are due Sept. 30. The program has no age restriction, but applicants must meet income requirements.

The income limit is $46,300 for an unmarried applicant and $56,500 for a married applicant, according to the assessor’s office.

Veterans who have not recorded their DD-214 with the Oxford Town Clerk must do so before Oct. 1 to qualify for an exemption on the 2026 grand list. Veterans with a disability rating from the Department of Veterans Affairs must also provide a letter showing their degree of disability.

The application period for the renters rebate program also ends Sept. 30. Its income limits are $43,600 for unmarried applicants and $56,500 for married applicants.

New applicants seeking forestland classification must submit their certification by Oct. 1.

Residents who recently became eligible for Social Security disability benefits or were recently declared legally blind should bring their award letter or blindness certificate to the assessor’s office before Oct. 1.

Applications and supporting documents should be submitted to the Oxford Assessor’s Office at Town Hall, 486 Oxford Road.
