The weather service predicts that the heavy wet snow combined with some sleet and freezing rain could make travel treacherous and the weight of the snow could knock down some tree limbs and power lines.
Like you, I’m hoping the forecast doesn’t change again.

Original post:
It’s beginning to become clear based on the latest National Weather Center forecast that this will be far from the storm of the century for Oxford, or actually even a significant snowstorm.
But because of how little snow we’ve received thus far this winter, it’s definitely getting a lot of attention, and the potential for icing complicates matters as evidenced by last weekend.
A winter weather advisory has been issued beginning at midnight running until 6 p.m. Saturday for a mix of snow, sleet and freezing rain.
Snow is still expected at this time to accumulate 3-5 inches with a trace amount of ice mixed in. The heaviest snow mixed with sleet, and freezing rain is forecast for Saturday morning through Saturday afternoon.
Oxford’s hourly forecast includes:
Snow showers are expected to begin at 2 a.m. and snow will intensify from 3-6 a.m. but from 7-9 a.m. there will be a wintry mix before the snow return in Oxford from 10-3 p.m. Snow will taper off to light snow by 4 p.m. before ending as snow showers by 6 p.m.
Please be safe!
